Opened in 1967, South Centennial Manor is a 69 bed accredited Long Term Care facility, operated by MICs Group of Health Services. The home serves not only the community but the district. At present the age of our Residents varies from 45 to 105, but has the mandate to admit individuals as young as 18 years of age. Care and services are provided in keeping with set legislation and the “Resident’s Bill of Rights”. The facility becomes the Resident’s primary “Home”.

As such it is operated in a way that psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of each resident are met. Furthermore, each resident is given the opportunity to contribute, in accordance with his or her ability, to the above mentioned needs.

Efforts are made to promote as much decision making and control as possible on the part of the residents. The Home’s resident council provides the residents an opportunity to voice any suggestions, wishes and concerns. For those residents unable to make decisions for themselves, a provision exists enabling a “representative’ to assist in expressing their needs, thus respecting, supporting and promoting the resident’s rights. It should be noted that family members or other individuals from the community may attend the resident’s council meetings by invitation of the council.

All staff of this facility works as a team interacting with the residents and contributing to their quality of life. This is done by providing residents the opportunity, assistance, support and encouragement to assist them in meeting his/her individual goals.

Some of the services provided are: medical care, nursing, rehabilitation, activities, and dietary. Speech, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy are provided through CCAC (Community Care Access Centre).

The ever presence of a large team of volunteers provides the social interaction that each and every Resident needs and deserves.
