Telephone service is available in all semi-private and private rooms.
Long distance calls are made through the Admitting Office, by dialing “0”. This service is available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If calls must be made at other times, they can be made from the Nursing Station by reversing the charges. Local calls can be made from the room, by dialing “8” and then the local number.
Friends or family are welcome to call the hospital, and their calls will be transferred to your room. Call transfer may be refused if you are receiving a treatment, or the physician is with you. Personal calls are not usually transferred to your room after 9:00 p.m., so please ensure that your family members are informed of this policy.
As a health care facility, Bingham Memorial Hospital supports a total non-smoking environment. There are no exceptions to this policy.
The medications, dressings, and treatments provided are ordered by your physician for your benefit. They are designed to speed up recovery, restore health, and enable you to return home as soon as possible.
Your cooperation is essential in the management of your care, and we ask that you be in your room when medication and treatments are given.
For your safety and protection, the bedside rails are often raised. If you find it necessary to get out of bed while the rails are up, please call for assistance.
Every effort has been made to protect the hospital against fire. We have been trained in fire prevention and control, and can evacuate the hospital if necessary. When the fire alarm rings, all automatic doors will close. Do not be alarmed if you hear a fire bell or doors closing. You will be informed shortly, and, if necessary, assisted to a safe area. Team Members participate in fire drills on a regular basis.
Your diet, ordered by your physician, is as important a treatment as any other you will receive. If you have concerns regarding your meals, please ask to see the Support Services Coordinator.
Although “home-cooking” is always the favorite, please check with a nurse before eating food brought in by family or visitors. Between-meal nourishment is provided by the Dietary Department.
Meals are served at 8:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 4:30 p.m.
Dietary counseling is available with a referral from your physician. If you miss breakfast because of fasting or a test, a late breakfast will be available when you are finished.
If you would like a member of the clergy to visit you at the hospital, please mention this to your nurse. Bibles have been donated by the Gideon Society and are available in each bedside table.
Limited parking space is available for our Team Members, visitors and patients. Visitors are asked to park at the front of the hospital. Patients who are being admitted are requested to please leave their vehicle at home if possible. In exceptional circumstances, patient vehicles can be accommodated at the rear of the hospital. Building Services may require car keys to move the vehicle for snow clearing, delivery trucks, etc...
The Gift Shop and tuck cart are run by the Bingham Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. These services are available Monday and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If you have any concerns regarding the quality of care you are receiving, this should be directed to your physician or nurse. If you have a concern about a Team Member, please direct your concern to the Patient Care Coordinator or the Chief Executive Officer. The Patient Care Coordinator’s office is located on the main floor, and any Team Member can provide directions. Your opinion is valuable to us, so please, do not hesitate to tell us about any concerns that may arise.
