The Laundry & Housekeeping Aide plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors. Working under the direction of the Support Services Supervisor, this position combines housekeeping and laundry responsibilities to support daily operations within the hospital.
Key duties include cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, common areas, and clinical spaces; operating housekeeping equipment; handling linens through collection, washing, drying, folding, and distribution; and maintaining infection control standards. The role also involves assisting with emergencies, participating in safety programs, and contributing to a culture of quality and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- WHMIS certification (current and maintained)
- Ministry of Labour Worker Health & Safety Awareness Training Certificate
- Knowledge of infection control principles
- Experience in institutional housekeeping or laundry considered an asset
- Ability to operate housekeeping and laundry equipment safely and effectively
- Good communication skills; bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset
- Good attendance record and adherence to confidentiality requirements
Compensation
- Rate of pay: $25.07 as per SEIU collective agreement
- Paid benefits and vacation as per SEIU collective agreement
- Eligibility to enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
