The Pharmacy Technician supports the delivery of safe, effective medication therapy through the preparation, dispensing, and management of medications across inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care settings. Working under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist, the technician performs sterile and non-sterile compounding (including chemotherapy), manages inventory and controlled substances, and supports automation systems such as unit-dose packaging and automated dispensing units.
This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to function both independently and as part of a collaborative pharmacy team. The Pharmacy Technician is expected to uphold safety and quality standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and participate in ongoing quality improvement and professional development initiatives. Travel between MICs sites may be required.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a certified Pharmacy Technician program or completed the Pharmacy Technician bridging program
- Licensed or eligible for immediate licensure with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- 1–2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Experience in sterile compounding, including chemotherapy, preferred
- Experience with Meditech, unit dose packaging, and automated dispensing units is considered an asset
- Purchasing and reconciliation experience is considered an asset
- Travel to other sites as required
- A satisfactory criminal record check will be required by the successful candidate as a condition of employment
Compensation
- Rate of pay: $36.70 / hour as per SEIU collective agreement
- Paid benefits and vacation as per SEIU collective agreement
- Enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
