The Dietary Aide supports the delivery of safe, nutritious meals for patients, residents, staff, and visitors across the MICs Group of Health Services. Working under the direction of the Support Services Supervisor or Program Leader, the Dietary Aide plays an important role in meal preparation, food service, sanitation, and infection control.
This position involves assisting with special diet requirements, meal tray assembly, food delivery, dishwashing, and general kitchen duties in accordance with safe food handling standards. The Dietary Aide is also responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment, adhering to infection prevention protocols, and promoting a culture of safety for all.
Day-to-day responsibilities may include working directly with the Cook, supporting dietary team operations, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and strong communication skills to support a positive food service experience for patients and residents.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma
- Minimum 1 year experience in institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality sector
- Food Handler Training Certificate (Ministry endorsed provider)
- Ministry of Labour Worker Health & Safety Awareness Training Certificate
- Able to work a flexible schedule inside a 7-day/week operation
- Bilingualism (English/French) will be considered an asset.
Compensation
- Rate of pay: $25.07 / hour
- Benefits: 14% in lieu
- Vacation: 4% – 14% of gross earnings, based on hours worked
- Enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOP)
