The MICs Group of Health Services is seeking a dynamic and innovative Patient Care Manager. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Patient Care Manager is responsible for the overall day to day management of the Patient Care Departments in keeping with the MICs Group of Health Services mission, vision, values and strategic direction. The Patient Care Manager provides visible clinical leadership and demonstrates responsibility, accountability and commitment to the development of a work environment that exemplifies evidence-based, professional autonomous decision making, a shared governance philosophy and positive recognition.

Responsibilities include:
  • Identifying the required organizational supports and structures for the delivery of safe, efficient and patient centered care
  • Developing and implementing the clinical service, functional and strategic plans for the patient care departments in collaboration with the broader patient care leadership team
  • Effectively managing financial and human resources, physical space and equipment of the patient care departments in alignment with the MICs Group of Health Services strategic plan
  • Ensuring patient care is provided according to professional practice and organizational standards, establishing a professional practice climate that encourages a multi-disciplinary approach to care
  • Enhancing community linkages to support patients and their families
  • Identifying initiatives and opportunities to continuously improve the patient and family experience
  • Managing all aspects of employee relations including human resource planning, recruitment, performance management, coaching/mentoring and professional development
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with baccalaureate degree (Masters preferred) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and active membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario
  • Minimum of 3-5 years recent formal leadership experience and/or in a managerial capacity in a unionized health care setting (preferably in acute care), completion of formal management courses
  • Commitment to creating a positive patient / caregiver experience
  • Demonstrated transformational leadership style and proven interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively guide, direct and assist staff to continuously improve performance
  • Effective financial, human resource, labour relations, communication, conflict resolution, quality management, change management and utilization management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be self-directed
  • Demonstrated professional and respectful attitude to patients, public, volunteers and colleagues and fostering good public relations and effective working relationships
  • Ability to respond to a large number of simultaneous/competing demands from patients, families, staff, physicians and other programs and departments, effective time management
  • Proficient with computer databases, spreadsheets, MS Office and internet searches
  • Flexible hours & travel between all sites is required.
