Job Description
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides compassionate, resident-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse, supporting daily living activities and promoting comfort, dignity, and independence.
As a key member of the long-term care team, the PSW assists with bathing, grooming, mobility, nutrition, toileting, and basic nursing tasks. The PSW also supports accurate recordkeeping, infection prevention, and contributes to a safe, respectful environment for residents, families, and coworkers.
This role requires empathy, patience, and a commitment to quality care in accordance with long-term care standards and the Resident Bill of Rights.

Qualifications
- Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited Ontario community college or equivalent (as per O. Reg. 246/22 of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021)
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Current certification in Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) or willingness to obtain within 6–12 months of hire
- Ministry of Labour Worker Health & Safety Awareness Training Certificate
- Experience providing personal care in a long-term care or rural/northern Ontario healthcare setting is preferred
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
- A vulnerable sector check will be required by the successful candidate as a condition of employment
Compensation
- Rate of pay: $29.91 / hour as per the SEIU collective agreement
- Paid benefits and vacation as per the SEIU collective agreement
- Enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
