Job Description

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides safe, high-quality nursing care to patients and residents across the MICs Group of Health Services, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

As a key member of the Patient Care Team, the RPN supports direct patient care, medication administration, care planning, and patient and family education. The RPN works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, demonstrates sound clinical judgment, and maintains accurate records while promoting a safe and respectful environment.

This role requires a commitment to patient safety, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Qualifications
  • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • One year of work experience in acute care, complex continuing care, or long-term care settings is preferred
  • Current BLS – Heart and Stroke certification
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Knowledge and practice of the Nursing Process, CNO standards, and legislated acts to provide quality patient care to all age groups; adherence to best practice guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills to understand and follow facility policies and procedures
  • English required; French an asset
  • Experience with computers including Outlook, PCC, and PCS/Meditech
  • Physical ability to perform job duties
  • A clear vulnerable sector check will be required by the successful candidate as a condition of employment
Compensation
  • Hourly Wage: $37.53–$39.48 as per the SEIU collective agreement
  • Paid benefits and vacation as per the SEIU collective agreement
  • Enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
Incentives & Programs

Community Commitment Program for Nurses

The MICs Group of Health Services participates in Ontario Health’s Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN). Eligible Registered Practical Nurses hired into a full-time position may qualify for up to $45,000 in financial incentives, including:

  • Up to $25,000 for making a two-year employment commitment in an eligible full-time position;
  • An additional $10,000 Northern Ontario incentive; and
  • An additional $10,000 relocation incentive for eligible nurses who relocate at least 100 kilometres to accept the position.

Eligibility is subject to the requirements of the CCPN. Applicants are encouraged to review the full eligibility criteria at

Jumpstart Opportunities in Nursing in Long-Term Care

The MICs Group of Health Services participates in Ontario Health’s Jumpstart Opportunities in Nursing in Long-Term Care (JOIN LTC) program. Eligible Registered Practical Nurses hired into a part-time position may qualify for up to $22,500 in financial incentives, including:

  • Up to $12,500 for making a two-year employment commitment in an eligible part-time position;
  • An additional $5,000 Northern Ontario incentive; and
  • An additional $5,000 relocation incentive for eligible nurses who relocate at least 100 kilometres to accept the position.

Eligibility is subject to the requirements of the JOIN LTC program. Applicants are encouraged to review the full eligibility criteria at Ontario Health – JOIN LTC.
